Paul R. Overton

Paul was born on November 19, 1988 in Annapolis, MD. He was raised in Severna Park and graduated in 2007 from Severna Park High School. He then attended East Carolina University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Management. He was employed as an Executive of Store Operations with the Target Corporation.

Those who knew Paul, know that we have lost a shining light in our lives. Paul was an enthusiastic and passionate soul, that took every opportunity to spread the positivity of what the world had to offer. Paul left an enormous impact on every individual who were blessed to have known him. His passion for life and his distinct ability to connect with others had a strong impact on those that knew him. His “LET’S GO!!!” attitude and just all-around love of life was so infectious to all.

Paul had built many long-lasting relationships and was a mentor to many people. His main interests included health, food and fitness. He was an avid reader and loved educating himself on all subjects. He enjoyed running, weight training, kayaking, cycling, swimming, cooking, developing meal and fitness plans for friends and family, traveling and most of all, dancing! Paul participated in many running events and completed his first full marathon in April 2018 at the DC Rock and Roll Marathon. Paul had a tremendous passion for different cultures and international foods. He was especially proud of his Italian heritage and loved attending Italian festivals.

On the evening of August 16, 2018, everything changed for Paul. While “trying out” his friend’s new motorcycle in an empty parking lot, Paul lost control and was tragically thrown off the bike. Paul hit a stop sign and suffered cardiac arrest. After being transported to the local hospital, Paul was sent to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in critical condition. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, a spinal cord injury and due to severe artery damage, he lost the lower part of his right arm.

Paul spent the first three months in Shock Trauma and the next year in a DC rehab facility and Washington National Hospital Center. The unbelievable strength and endurance that Paul endured during this period is truly incredible. Without being able to speak or move on his own, Paul still continued to somehow impact not only those who knew him before the accident, but also the physicians, nurses and therapists that took care of him.

Finally, in November 2019 Paul’s family brought him home to the house that he grew up in. With the incredible help from a team of nurses, therapists and family members that were with him 24/7, Paul began to grow stronger. He was continually surrounded by tremendous love, prayer and positive care for the next 16 months. He fought hard and was improving everyday, but on March 29, 2021, Paul passed away in a peaceful sleep.

We miss our beloved Paul deeply, but he had an incredible impact during his short 32 years of life. We are so proud of the person who Paul was and are eternally grateful to God for the time we had with him.

Whether Paul knew you well or if he just met you, Paul’s greatest joy was to help others. In his memory, we will strive to provide and give back to those in most need.
